AMANDA GREGORY

CE Director

WHAT I DO FOR THE BOARD:

Continuing Education Director

WHY AND WHEN I JOINED THE BOARD:

Started this position Fall 2021. I joined to be able to be an active role in spreading the love of play therapy in PA.

I PLAY AT (WHERE I WORK AND WHAT I DO FOR FUN):

Clarion County Children and Youth Services. I love most things outdoors! Kayaking, skydiving, and spending time with family and friends.

WHERE I LEARNED TO PLAY (SCHOOL/TRAININGS):

Current student at Penn West Edinboro pursuing Masters in Social Work.

WHY PLAY THERAPY:

It is the greatest gift to have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of a child and connect in a meaningful way.

MY FAVORITE PLAY THERAPY BOOK (WHY?):

Play Therapy: The Art of the Relationship by Gary Landreth. It perfectly encapsulates the heart of child-centered play therapy.

MY FAVORITE CHILDREN’S BOOK:

I’ve loved you since forever by Hota Kotb

MY FAVORITE PLAY THERAPY TECHNIQUE:

Child-centered, synergetic, and Cognitive behavioral play therapy.

MY FAVORITE PLAY THERAPY QUOTE:

“Play is the child’s symbolic language of self-expression and can reveal (a) what the child has experienced; (b) reactions to what was experienced; (c) feelings about what was experienced; (d) what the child wishes, wants, or needs; and (e) the child’s perception of self.”
