WHAT I DO FOR THE BOARD:

I currently serve as CE Director for the PA APT Board.

WHY AND WHEN I JOINED THE BOARD:

I joined the Board in June 2015.  I decided to join the Board because I love play therapy and was looking for ways to become actively involved in the state organization.

I PLAY AT (WHERE I WORK AND WHAT I DO FOR FUN):

I primarily “play” in the Elementary Division at the Milton Hershey School.  I also enjoy “playing” with family, friends, and Zeus (my St. Bernard).

WHERE I LEARNED TO PLAY (SCHOOL/TRAININGS):

I first learned to play with Lisa Saldana while completing my Master’s internship in Miami, FL, and continued to learn to play with Anne Stewart while completing my doctorate degree at James Madison University in VA.

MY FAVORITE PLAY THERAPY BOOK (WHY?):

As a big proponent of bibliotherapy, this is a tough question to answer!  “Today I Feel Silly” was one of my first books and continues to be a favorite because it covers a range of feelings.  I love “Moody Cow Meditates”…who doesn’t have a moody cow day?! I also love Julia Cook books…child-focused, fun, and playful stories!

MY FAVORITE CHILDREN’S BOOK:

As a child, my favorite book was “Danny and the Dinosaur.”

MY FAVORITE PLAY THERAPY TECHNIQUE:

I love books and am passionate about bibliotherapy.  My favorite technique is reading a therapeutic book with a child and planning a related play therapy intervention to target the issue or concern.

MY FAVORITE PLAY THERAPY QUOTE:

"We don't stop playing because we get old. We get old because we stop playing." - George Bernard Shaw
